Overview

This build is a bit heavy on the forma to sport both, a 'Despoiler Nekros' with a maximum desecrate range but also being able to run as a good 'Shadowmaster Nekros' with a default despoil-range (100%), a decent duration and a good strength - more or less, a bit of a hybrid.

Build requirements

A normal Nekros will need 6 forma, Nekros Prime will 'only' need 5 forma. I formated the aura to 'Naramon' to use 'Corrosive Projection' mainly, but that's unto everyone's own liking. beside the aura-slot, this build will need 2 more 'Naramon', one 'Varazin' and one 'Zenurik' polarized slot and, in case of a normal Nekros, one slot polarized to 'Madurai'.

Nekros has no MR-requirement, but to get the normal version of him, one has to farm the parts from 'Lephantis', which is nothing new players could do on their own (likely) - so the MR0 doesn't mean much in this case...

The following stats will be for the Nekros Prime, first the values for the max. range Despoiler and then for the Shadowmaster build:

Weapons

For every Nekros build that uses

, the use of weapons that will cut enemies to pieces is a bonus since every piece will be desecrated separately. Since those Nekros builds here are pretty tanky for a frame with low armor, i prefer using melee weapons with him most of the time and only switch to ranged when facing Nullifier and similar annoying combatants - my favourite is the 'Atterax' with a pure physical build:

I changed the Stance from 'Varazin' to 'Zenurik' because i prefer the 'Coiling Viper' stance to 'Burning Wasp', which would otherwise be the one fitting into the original polarity, but such is only my personal preference - anyone who like the 'Burning Wasp' better or is indifferent to it, can save a forma here.

Beside this, the weapon should need 3 forma to sport this build. The MR-requirement for the 'Atterax' is MR2.

The build for it based on two aspects: the critical damage with the 'usual' mod-combination of

  • 'Blood Rush'
  • 'Drifting Contact' (or else, 'Body Count' and even 'Gladiator Rush' will do)
  • 'Maiming Strike'

and the use of 'Weeping Wounds' to generate a higher chance for 'Bleeding Procs' due to the mainly 'Slash' damage of this build. The enormous amount of bleeding damage (because the critical nature of this build) is the main source of damage and will kill enemies with the first tick of bleeding. The dismemberment, which is so useful to Nekros, is not because of the bleeding proc though, but because of the 'slash' damage (FYI: a weapon has to do more than 50% of its total damage as 'Slash' to dismember enemies - and then, the 'cause' of death has to be a slash damage, not a bleeding proc... luckily, you still can dismember corpses too ^^)

For other weapons, i would suggest a fast firing secondary for getting rid of Nullifier and a high-damage primary for faraway or dangerous heavy targets one wishes to stay clear of or don't have time to run to.

Usage

For the "Maximum Range Despoiler" Nekros, the usage is pretty easy:

As soon as you get into the mission, activate his

Desecrate.png Desecrate

Desecrate
Forces fallen enemies around you to drop additional loot.
Cost: 10
Warframe: Nekros

which, because of the 'Despoil' augmentation, will not use energy anymore but your health instead (which is why we still use a fairly good efficiency or else we might bleed out faster than we can replenish the health. After it's activated, we just have to make sure it stays on - so, avoid Nullifier and "zones of replacement" (like falling into pits and such)... If this did happen, activate it as soon as possible again, but at a fairly secure area since the animation takes some time during you can take damage.

Speaking of damage: The power of this build and also the gained tankiness of Nekros is due to the combination of 'Despoil', 'Health Conversion' and 'Equilibrium' - they create something near a 'perpetuum mobile' of Nekros... as long as he keep on moving, killing and despoiling that is. An little extra tip: also use Channelling with your melee weapon - not only for the little extra damage of it, but also to 'waste' energy... this way blue energy orbs will also heal you due to 'Equilibrium' - and, you don't need energy for anything else (running out of energy isn't a problem either, only the channelling will stop,

won't).

Nekros two other abilities,

and

are usable, but don't an important role here - though, 'Soul Punch' is a nifty way to deal with annoying enemies like Nox and other heavies, especially if you punch them into an abyss ^^) There is one important point to the build though: You REALLY need either a Sentinel or a MOA with

in it, else you'll have problems picking the orbs up fast enough to heal your frame If you play this Nekros mainly with a melee weapon like me, i suggest using a MOA and put those mods into it (beside the needed 'Vacuum'):

This should keep the little bugger alive while you heal constantly, thanks to 'Pack Leader', with your melee attacks.

If you prefer a Sentinel instead, i would suggest the Carrier Prime because it's the sturdiest one of them (it's weapon doesn't matter, but i prefer the normal Sweeper Prime in it). Make sure to bolster up it's survivability and usefulness with mods like:

PrimedAnimalInstinctMod1

is also what i would suggest in every Sentinel, MOA or Companion.

Last, but not least, i recommend the use of the 'Magus Repair' in your Operator to heal Nekros up fast if things goes south (e.g. if you lose your MOA/Sentinel).

Variation

I'll put the usage of the Shadowmaster build in here, for it mainly follows the same path as the max. range Despoiler too.

Same as with the Despoiler Nekros, you start casting

Desecrate.png Desecrate

Desecrate

Cost: 10
Warframe: Nekros

as soon as you enter a mission and keep it going all the time. start killing enemies and also filling your energy up to maximum. As soon as you reach a location you want to stay a while (Defence Objectives or just a good 'camping' spot in survivals) cast his

ShadowsOfTheDead.png Shadows Of The Dead

Shadows Of The Dead
Summons shadow versions of vanquished enemies to fight alongside you for a short period of time.
Cost: 100
Warframe: Nekros

and continue killing enemies to keep the 'perpetuum mobile' going. The shadows will follow if you move to far away from them (but slowly since they keep attacking every enemy the see) and will also move away from you within their range even if you stand still (which you shouldn't, ofc ^^). You can recast

ShadowsOfTheDead.png Shadows Of The Dead

Shadows Of The Dead

Cost: 100
Warframe: Nekros

to teleport them to your location when they are too far away (noticeable by the line from you to them, in your frames energy color) - this will also refill their health and is therefore a better method than letting them die, in which case you will have to 'pay' the pull energy-price again ('refreshing' them will be far cheaper).

When called first (or after they were gone), you will get the shadows of 7 strongest enemies you killed - if one ore more of them is capable to 'create' other units (e.g. Drahk Masters), those will add to the count and you will also gain the extra benefits of those additional shadows.

One word about good teamplay: Choose a energy color for your Nekros that isn't anything yellow - else your shadows will look real close to corrupted enemies (especially any Nullifier)... this will waste the time, ammo and energy of your team-mates if they think your shadows enemies - black (or near-black) isn't a good choice either for then the links between you and your shadows are nigh invisible and might even confuse yourself.
